I would never lend or gift a book to anyone again if I had any sense
If
there is anything in this world that I love the most after people, it is books.
I love books intensely. I have no interest in clothes or any other material
things. My main attraction is books. I save money little by little to buy a
book. I have affection, love, and care for every book. I touch each book with
the utmost tenderness. I carefully wipe them and keep them clean. Each book is
no less than my child's. I protect them just like I would protect my child.
When I let someone read or gift one of my beloved books, they should understand
how much affection and love I have put into that gesture. They should also
protect the books like I have protected them, just like my child.
Today,
I received back a very dear book that I had lent. I had kept the book carefully,
ensuring no page got damaged. I was very vigilant about it. But what the person
who read the book did to it made me cry. The cover was torn into pieces, and the
book had a layer of dust. I could have ignored the dust, but the way the cover
was torn, it felt like my heart was breaking.
Fools
cannot appreciate knowledge. That’s why they ruthlessly treat books as the
carriers of knowledge. The Prophet (PBUH) was right. Before the Day of
Judgment, knowledge will be taken away. At that time, the wise will no longer
be respected. I am seeing this reality with my own eyes.
Knowledge
is the light of Allah. I am starting to understand why Allah has deprived these
uncivilized people of His light. The surroundings are filled with ignorance.
These ignorant people even have certificates. They are uneducated despite
holding certificates. That’s why they have so much hatred towards knowledge and
books. Today, I made a vow to myself: if I have any sense, I will never gift or
lend books to anyone again. Let the fools remain uneducated, ignorant, and
barbaric. They are worse than animals.
